Formula
Cost = Built-up area × Floors × Rate per sq ft. Quantities use thumb rules: 0.4 cement bags, 4 kg steel, 1.8 cft sand, 1.35 cft aggregate and 8 bricks per sq ft.
Worked example
A 1,200 sq ft G+1 house (2,400 sq ft) at ₹2,200/sq ft costs about ₹52.8 lakh, needing roughly 960 bags of cement and 9.6 tonnes of steel.
Assumptions
- Rates are 2026 tier-2 city averages; metro rates and premium finishes run higher.
- Excludes land, boundary wall, interiors beyond basic finish, and furniture.
- Quantities are planning estimates for RCC framed structures, not a bill of quantities.
